We’re Qloud Games, a remote-first indie game studio with team members from all corners of the globe, developing Loftia – a cozy, social experience. It’s our vision to bring the creative and cozy elements of beloved titles like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley, together with an online, multiplayer world. Loftia will be the space for players to find their sense of belonging, and work together with the community to work toward a brighter and more hopeful future.
We’re looking for a full-time senior UI/UX Designer who is excited by the prospect of helping bring Loftia to life!
Responsibilities:
Our UI/UX Designer will be responsible for:
Concepting and designing a cohesive, thematic, and aesthetically pleasing user interface for Loftia
Utilizing UX expertise to drive best practices in providing delightful, intuitive, and accessible experiences to players
Helping coordinate the user interface development process, from wireframing with the game design team, all the way through graphical design, to visual implementation within the engine
Collaborating with various other disciplines within our wider team, including game designers and programmers, in the process of UI creation
We’re looking for a candidate with:
Experience with at least 1 shipped title in a UI/UX designer capacity
Ability to translate the requirements from game designers into wireframes and interactive prototypes that provide the ideal user experience
Ability to communicate game mechanics visually and build the final UI assets following an existing art direction, in a way that matches the intended mood and style
Ability to work proactively in a remote-first, startup environment spanning multiple timezones
Strong verbal and written communication skills, adept at receiving feedback and implementing changes accordingly
An open-minded, growth mindset with an ambition for continual learning
In addition, the following are not hard requirements, but are desirable and will weigh into our selection process:
Experience with designing full visual systems: defining the UI identity for all screen elements (buttons, icons, fonts, sizes, etc) and consolidating that into a solid standard
Experience with handling UX research: obtaining and translating player feedback and analysis of other products into design decisions for UIs
Experience with implementing user interfaces in-engine (Unreal Engine 5 or 4 preferred)
Experience with building user interfaces that allow for both keyboard & mouse setups as well as gamepads
